Minutes of the Tri-Valley R/C Modelers

Minutes of the Tri-Valley Aero modelers

November 2 2005

The meeting was opened by President Larry Schlagel.

New Member: Bob Abadajos, Bob has an electric stick to learn on.

Guests: Chris Antion and Cliff Trotter

Safety: John Salisbury requested that flyers drive further down the runway (road) before turning off to avoid the steep drop off.

Don’t Try This at Home

Jay and Larry tried an interesting experiment; they put Jay’s GPS unit in the plane and tracked its performance.  Jay went first getting to 1900 feet and 65 MPH with his World 3D.  Not to be outdone Larry put it in his 3D Ultra Stick light powered by Saito 180. he flew to 3300 feet before his sunglasses fogged up losing sight of the plane. Jay took over the radio and returned the model safely.  The GPS recorded 112 MPH. so I guess that some of the recovery was straight down.

Field Search Report: No news.

Christmas Party

December 8th is the Christmas party.

The location is the American Legion. Menu is fixed.

Cost is $20 per couple ($10 single)

No host bar will be provided.

Crash of the Month: John Salisbury reported on a crash caused by a faulty Li battery the plane caught fire and started a small grass fire (this was not at the Seinz ranch).  The battery had previously been dropped but seemed to be okay.

There were twelve door prizes awarded.

Bob Abadajos won the 50-50 drawing.

Respectfully submitted,

Jerry Miller
