President’s corner
Hello and thank you all for your continued participation in our club. The wheel sometimes turns slowly in the progress towards our new flying site, but I have some good news that will be announced at our next meeting. Remember, have fun, fly safely, and watch out for others…See you at the next meeting.
LARRY SCHLAGEL
May meeting minutes: May 5, 2005
Visitors Bill Peck, an old member and Robert Sorrells became new members.
Secretary’s report The regular secretary was absent again, and the temp read what was written in the newsletter.
Treasurer’s report
Safety Report The safety officer must think we are following the rules, based on his report.
Webmaster’s report There have been 1225 visits to the site. An aerial view taken from Bill Korn’s plane is being shown.
Field Marshal’s report Everyone is now considered to be Field Marshal, so pitch in!
Old Business None
New Business The raffle plane for this year will be a NextStar trainer. Tickets are being distributed. The winning ticket will be drawn on the Sunday of the Fly-In, Aug. 28.
Pax TV started shooting. They need a youngster for some buddy box shots.
The post of publicity is now open. Here’s your chance to contribute.
Newly named flight instructors have been given a gallon of fuel. An instructor must be a level 3 pilot and have a desire to teach.
Crash of the Month Frank Bognuda flew a lawn dart
into the ground. There may have been other crashes, but details were not
available. I personally liked the one where Glenn did a
perfect snap on takeoff and landed upside down less than 10 feet from his point
of departure
Show and Tell Ernie didn’t make this public, but he told me about an electric ducted-fan jet he is building. He is expecting 100 mph. The motor will be operating close to 1 horsepower!
Door Prizes Ten door prizes were awarded ; they were spread out among 8 winners.
50-50 Wes won the 50-50 which was $23
A flight contest was conducted with whirligigs. That is a propeller on a stick which is operated by spinning it between two hands. Spin it the wrong way and it comes back and nicks you, Ernie. The gadget is historically significant because the Wrght brothers had one, and it piqued their interest in flying. Anyway, Nigel won the contest
Respectfully submitted
Bob Allington for Jerry Miller
Seventeen letters use snail mail. The rest go by e-mail. Mailing the newsletter costs the club about $6 per letter per year.
The most efficient way to get the newsletter to you is via e-mail. If you have e-mail and are not now getting your letter that way, get your address to me.
If you have anything you want to sell, tell me and I’ll list it for you.
